A Race with a Reason: Eden to Easter
About
The Old Testament is often neglected in today’s world. Potential readers believe that it is largely made up of difficult material and that it tells stories of a bloodthirsty nature in primitive times and so may safely be ignored in favour of the Gospels, the Epistles, Acts of the Apostles and Revelation.
For those with eyes to see, the Old Testament traces the Loving Purposes of God from the first days of our disobedience unto the glorious Redemption brought to us by our Lord Jesus Christ, as is so aptly put in the Bidding Prayer to the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols broadcast annually from the Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge.
In retelling these Bible stories, I have attempted to trace the route whereby the Jewish people, As God’s Chosen Race, became the vehicle or foundation of the Salvation of Mankind on the Cross of Our Lord. Without the foundations of the Old Testament, the house of the New would not stand, perhaps not even exist.
Each story is chosen to tell its own lesson, and it is my fervent prayer that readers, as they follow the links in the chain, as it were, will come to understand the Why and How of our Redemption in all its wondrous glory.
