Further Tales from The Vicarage
About
Further Tales from the Vicarage is the third collection of short stories featuring Canon Oliver Ball, Vicar of St Stephen’s Church, Upper Gibbet, and his friend and amanuensis Dr James (Jim) Wilson.
During a long career in the church, Canon Ball has experienced many strange, often supernatural, events. As he himself admits, he ‘attracts trouble as the sparks fly upward’.
The friendship between the two, founded on a mutual passion for chess, an appreciation of fine single malt whisky and an interest in cooking, has, over the years, forged a strong bond between them. Early in their acquaintanceship, the Canon recounted some of his eerie experiences, and these were recorded, Watson-like, by Jim Wilson. Later, as time passed, the two came to share many peculiar happenings, which are, as before, recounted by Jim. These stories are perhaps best not read late at night by those of a nervous disposition.
